Well, she got the republic part wrong but there was little that reflected a representative democracy tonight at Olympia’s City Council meeting, which quickly voted to repeal Olympia’s Nuclear Free Zone Ordinance. read more »

4 Northwest Activists Jailed at DNC Protests

Along with scores of other protesters in Denver, four northwest activists have been arrested. They are Wally Cuddeford, Lillia Lassiter, and Jeff Berryhill from Olympia. FBI Arrests Olympia Resident for Suspected ELF Activity
Submitted by pirate on July 26, 2008 - 12:03am.The Olympian reported today that FBI agents arrested Olympia resident Brian Rivera, aka Brian Lefey, aka “Rat Dogg” for suspicion of participation in an Earth Liberation Front (ELF) action to destroy genetically engineered trees at a U.S. Forest Service facility in Rhinelander, Wisc. in July 2000.
“An official at the Federal Public Defender in Tacoma confirmed today that Rivera was being held at the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac.” – from the Olympian article
It is unknown if any solidarity and jail support is organized at this time.

The residents of the Pitch Pipe Infoshop recently became aware of the existence of a hidden surveillance camera attached to a utility pole across from their house. The camera is hidden inside a box which is meant to resemble a standard electrical box. There are no other boxes like this on any of the utility poles in the immediate area. As the below picture shows, there is clearly a "camera-resembling-object" resting behind the transparent surface at the base of the box.

Briana Waters Sentenced to 6 years

Ms. Waters was sentenced today in Tacoma, WA.
Briana Waters was sentenced to six years in prison and three years probation. She did receive the terrorism enhancement. The judge recommended her to Dublin. Judge denied appeal bond and also the ability to self surrender.
